About Us

A little something about who we are and what we do when we're not singing Christmas songs!

Amy Daly, Soprano

Amy is married to John, the tenor in the quartet!  They have three adult children (Michael - 32, Matthew - 29, and McKenna - 22).  Amy has been singing since childhood and majored in vocal performance at Northern Illinois University.  Though she did not complete her degree, she has never stopped singing and music is what brought she and John together back in 1986, when they both auditioned for a Christian rock band (note - they both got the gig).  Amy enjoys musical theater, when her schedule allows it, and being on the worship team at Harvest Chapel in Sandwich.  Apart from music, Amy works as a secretary at Sandwich High School and also has a small business making and selling tumblers (shameless plug - check them out at www.ahmeepiecreations.com ), and, best of all, being a grandma to her grandsons; Gavin and Luka.

John Daly, Tenor

John and Amy (soprano) have been married for 34 years and have 3 adult children and two grandchildren.  John grew up on the stage, performing in numerous school musicals throughout his childhood and high school years.  He and Amy met auditioning for a Christian band and music has always been an integral part of their relationship, from singing in the quartet together, to being worship leaders, as well as singing in more weddings together than either can remember!  John also plays the bass guitar and is in a band called The Wooden Rockers, coincidentally (or not) with Gary Schmidt, the bass singer in the Lamplight Singers!  John works as a software developer for Adtalem Globel Education but his greatest passion is antique automobiles - the REALLY old ones - and he and Amy own seven antique cars!

Gary Schmidt
Baritone Gary Schmidt, of Maple Park, IL , began his singing “career” in the children’s choir at his church at the age of 11.   There he discovered a love for vocal harmonies and singing with others.  50 plus years later, that love has not diminished and has motivated him to start and sing in several bands as well as a long tenure with the Lamplight Singers.   Gary has 2 grown sons, 3 grown step-sons and 10 grandkids, several of whom are musically inclined.  He and his wife, Holly, live in Maple Park, Il where they share a passion for landscaping and vegetable gardening.
